Diacritical / vocalization marks and Arabic

I finally got around to reading the lovely diacritical mark article that our friend, Mr. David Březina wrote for i love typography! I don't know much about Arabic, but it definitely made me want to take another look at the decorative calligraphic work in which the *vocalization* marks are more obviously essential elements of the composition. After a very very quick Google search, I found this nice overview of the history of Arabic type evolution that looks promising. Hopefully it will help me dig further! Thank you, Pascal Zoghbi!

I am not sure if "diacritical marks" is a good term to use with Arabic. I tried to avoid it in my article for diacritics typically "alter the character" where in Arabic the marks "add a vowel &c. to the character". The marks are usually refered to as "vocalization [marks]".

Hey David!

Sorry to be so slow in following up. Glad that you brought that to our attention again! Ha, I am embarrassed that I didn't use the best terminology for the marks -- you probably doubt that I read your article ;) haha. I did, I swear! Anyway, thanks again for your help!

You have to express more your opinion to attract more readers, because just a video or plain text without any personal approach is not that valuable. But it is just form my point of view
